We started caravanning 8 years ago in an old 1988 swift van that we came across by someone elses bad luck. However after a couple of years we decided to upgrade as the kids were getting bigger, we were really enjoying the caravanning bug and the van was looking jaded. (The front window had water inside it and would have meant a new window).
We purchased a 2003 van in 2008, thinking that would be our investment for a good few years to come. 12months after we bought it we found that we had water coming in round the back window. (of course being second hand it didnt have a warranty left)
We oversealed the rear of the van but it still managed to find its way in through the window seal, which we then did some work to re-seal. However when I went in yesterday the towel that I had put down as a precaution was soaked and we have only had one downpour since I put it in. . The whole rear wall will need removing to dry out
When we were away this summer I got rather wet one night and found that the roof light/sunroof was leaking (bad enough for me to decamp from the bed to the floor!.) However after the recent downpour there is nothing in the bucket I put underneath the skylight so I really dont get what is causing that drip.
My OH is not mr fix it and has kind of buried his head, I have been on the roof with the Capt Tolly's but not really sure if I should run it over every join on the outside of the van. Up shot is complete restrip is too much for me to handle and so the OH's solution is to 'sell the ****** thing!' that makes me really sad as although we don't get away often I love my caravan and all the joy it brings when I am in it. Who would buy it anyway?
I am so angry that we bought a duff van when the old one was only 'tatty' and was dry as a bone!! I don't expect answers just needed to get it off my chest
