I have just bought a 1996 Coachman Mirage 500/5. I want to buy an awning and want to be certain about the size. I have measured the A to A ground to ground as 920 cm. I wound the legs to the positon I would set the caravan up andI used string with very little stretch and made sure it was loose so I did not stretch it. I taped the string to the floor at both ends making sure it was not stretched. Taped the tape measure to one end and measured it at 920cm. I did all the measurments three times with tiny diffferences. On the Isabella chart it has only a 1998 model (not 1996) shows 942cm. I am hoping someone has the same caravan to ask what size their awning is. Also advice on a suitable measurement above and below 920cm.

I remembered I had a long section of awning beading strip cut off the tatty awning that came with the caravan. I used that instead of string and the new length is 136cm, measured twice

just a thought that will not give you ground to ground measurement using the old one as the beading does not go to the floor only to the end of the rail.

Yes, I measured ground to ground by marking it then moving it to the groun at the other end.
