I can only talk from my personal experience. I have a 2009 Compass Rallye. Owned since new. I have had nothing but problems with it. Top of the range it's supposed to be I recon it was built on a Friday afternoon. It's back at the dealers for the 10th time. This time were are having a complete kitchen fitted, a Front window replaced, a crack above the side window repaired and a warp above the door repaired.

I love the van but not happy with the build quality. Go thru the one your looking at with a fine toothed comb and ask to see the service/repair record for it.

We bought (new) 2001 Elddis (Explorer group, same as Compass), and no problems in the 5 years we had it.  Now have a 2006 Coachman, and no problems.

It seems to me that most complaints about poor quality caravans have arisen in the last 3 or 4 years, so your 2000 van may free from any serious faults; particularly as the previous owner (should have) had any complaints rectified under warranty.  Still advisable to find out as much history about the van as possible, though.

Bertie.

Just out of interest, was your replacement front window because of the mark created by the outer panel of the double glazing touching the inner skin when you get the pressure of air when driving along.  A common problem with Myriad windows on many 2009 (or thereabouts) vans (of all makes).  Goodness knows how many of these have been replaced under warranty.
