I'm hoping someone can offer advice.
I have a 2006 Ace Jubilee Viceroy, and cannot get the nose weight below 60 kgs.(It started out at 75 kgs) I have moved everything possible around and have even laid the awning etc. near the rear on the floor. ( I know this is not advisable). The front upper lockers are virtually empty bar a few tupperware containers and tumblers, and under the seats are two sleeping bags and pillows. The front locker has a lightweight gas bottle, the water pump, the handle for the water porter, and a brush and dustpan. I've also drained the hot water tank.
I have been caravaning for twenty years and this is my seventh caravan and have never had this problem before.
I'm clutching at straws, but could the powertouch movers make that much of a difference?
Kinda hoping someone with a similar model can give me a solution
Hi Weeck, we have the same van but we tow with the 75kg noseweight and find the combination works well, most cars have a towball weight of 75kg and would be able to cope with the weight,
The only thing we changed on the car was to fit spring assistors as the omega saloon has a very long overhang behind the rear wheels.
we also have a mover on the van when fitted it only made 3kg difference to the noseweight.
Thanks deltaman, I tow with a 2004 Honda CRV it has a recomended max towing weight of 50kgs although the bracket is rated for 100kgs. When I first got this caravan I had an older model CRV and it did seem distinctly light on the steering and high on the front suspension. The newer CRV does seem less affected although it is an entirely different susp arrangement.
The combination tows OK but visually the caravan looks high at the rear, although it does not look low on the nose and the car looks fairly level.
Loooks like I will live with it, Many thanks
Whats the mtplm of your van? as I understand it your noseweight needs to be at least 4% of this figure, which may be why you cant achieve the noseweight you want.
where is your battery? I ask because I found that it takes a few seconds to remove and because it is at the front of my van it reduces my nose weight by around 18kg. It takes little room in the car boot.
good luck
Richard

Good question Littlejack40. Info is in van but I will check first opportunity. I have been assuming generic weights apply as it is a fairly standard caravan, in which case I might have to beef up the car.
the battery is front offside, and I did think about taking it out, but I feel it is already getting too time consuming setting up, I might try it as a last resort.
Thanks for the thought though
Interesting but a little worrying, I always assumed a MK2 CRV would have been well capable of handling a fairly normal van like the jubilee viceroy. I must confess to not checking too deeply and just making assumptions.
Your minimum legal noseweight is 4% of the caravan weight or 25kg whichever is higher. That means a car with a 50kg nose weight limit can only legally tow 1250kg.
You may have been given an old car handbook.
