Hi all im looking for some advice again, we are going to view a elddis typhoon gtx 2001 3 berth on saturday.Any tips or advice about this caravan would be great good or bad
we have a brand new elddis and dont know whether we were unlucky or not but has a scratch on the window and the screw has popped through the wood where is wasnt meant to be, hope this has helped

We have the Typhoon ex 300 1996 4 berthand only paid 1400 for it, if the one your looking at has the end bathroom check out the shower section as we had damp in this part and it was due to the arwning rail which i have fixed and now waiting for better weather to reseal the rest of the van,we only bought it in April, been away in it a couple of times and everything worked ok.
The sky light flyscreens broke but was not hard to fix.
We like the van but this is our first so we dont have anything to compare with.
I towed it with a renault secnic which pulled it ok but now bought a 407sw.
Thanks I am abit confused at moment as i have done a cris check and it isnt registered by the present keeper,so unless they can prove ownership i wont be trailing the 85miles to buy.

I dont blame you.
Did they say it was registered to them?
Weve been looking for ages for a caravan and lots of stories don`t add up !!!!!!!!!!
We had a 2001 Elddis; 2-berth with end kitchen. There were only two faults. The first was that the warm air heating thermostat was fitted into the side wall of the wardrobe, and heat in the wardrobe, from the heater below it, prevented the thermostst from controlling the van temperature. Just left it set to maximum.
The other fault (easy to cure) was a screw from the kitchen roof locker was too long and protruded slightly out of the washroom wall. I found it by cutting my finger when wiping down. I simply removed it, filled the hole with white uPVA sealant, fitted a shorter screw, and wiped the oozed-out sealant from the washroom wall with a damp cloth.
Otherwise, van behaved faultlessly for the 5 years we had it.
no they have told me the van isnt registered to them, when i spoke to cris register they said that i must get him to prove he can legally sell it and he is the owner. But how do i do this if he asnt got the sale receipt or he asnt cris registered it? im so fed up because would of liked this caravan but cant waste fuel trailing the 85miles for nothing.
Its either stolen or more likely the present owner bought it secondhand & didn't register as the new owner with Cris. Often people buying a caravan for the first time know nothing about Cris as it is voluntary. If you get the 'van details you can pay for a Cris check yourself & this will tell you whether 'van is stolen or has finance owing on it.
If you really want the van & the present owner can tell you who he bought the van off you could check with them, but if he is unwilling then forget it.
i have already phoned cris register up with the cris number but they cannot confirm all is ok because it isnt registered as change of details....
ive gave them the address of the house where the caravan is and it isnt the same details which it wont be because they hav'nt registered themselves as the keeper.he is saying he as all the manuals and a log book but seen this in the ad and it is only stating the size, make etc not the keeper.
My sister as also got a touring caravan and she said apart from her insurance she wouldnt have anything either to prove ownership so is the norm??? am i just benn too cautious????
If you have modern 'van that cost a few £1000s then every new owner should update reg(£12.00)but once the 'van gets older, say 90s then I suppose people tend not to bother & if you buy a 'van that has not had reg updated you risk opening a can of worms if you try to update reg. All UK built 'vans from '92 onwards should be cris reg, but not imported 'vans unless the owner does it themselves.
A caravan could have been stolen several owners ago. This is the price we pay for not having proper dvla reg & numberplates same as cars. Other European countries do. Updating car change of ownership is a legal requirement, until we have same for caravans then nothing will change.
