When we bought our new to us van last year you could see ware the old arial had been fittered a status 315 but the previous owner had a new status 530 fittered in a different position, the reason for that I think was that it extends virticaly about a foot and when in the down position it needs room in the cupbard to retract down but it works great no matter ware we are in the England.Ian
As Ian has said; providing there is clearance for the shaft to come down within the locker then you can fit a 530 where the 315 is fitted.
But if there is not room there it's no big issue as Status sell and over-priced cover plate that replaces the 315 base. You can then fit the 530/5 where it best fits. Even better if you can fit above the wardrobe you could go for the 530/10 however this also needs to be a specific distance off a wall as it has a lower support bracket. You need to hoist in any wiring implications moving might have and don't forget with a 530 to think about the "sweep" of the aerial hitting flues etc.
You can down-load all the installation documents from Grades website.
I blanked off a 315 and installed the 530/10 on a previous van and was very happy with it.
thanks for this info, on the advert it shows the short mast going into the overhead locker ,my existing 315 is wired into a overhead locker combined with a radio, can i use this same position and will i have to drill a wider hole thanks
If the locker is deep enough and there is enough clearance on the roof to rotate the aerial 360 degrees then yes.
You have to bore a big of a specific size that I cant recall through the roof, something like 40/45 mm dia. I used a B&Q hole cutter the type with saw teeth aroung the edge. Boring half way through from each side. very neat but needs courage! B&Q did the righr size cutter,
