Hi davecamper, there are a few on here who have used this type of gas, should be along shortly to give their views, take it this is the kind of thing you are asking about.

David.... I've been using one for a while now, love it and had no problems filling it up.
It's already paid for it self this summer in the savings we've made.
Filling is simple and fool proof..... the 80% full cut off works spot on as does the non return valve should you disconnect the pump with out shutting the main valve. (I've tried it.... Ooops )
We can always go away with a full cylinder as it can be topped up and seeing how much is left is really easy with the see through windows.

Luckily for me Safefill are local so I might just pop in and ask them, thanks for the post David.
Dave
Hi Dave, would be interested to here what they say about the rented bottle as regards the return, how much of the £150 would you get returned in the event of the bottle being returned to any of their retailers, please keep us posted

I would be concerned about warranty etc in the event that Safefill are not successful or there is legislation to prevent filling of bottles on a garage forecourt.
If the above could be covered to my satisfaction and a lot more filling points were available I would probably change, but I would need to use a fair bit of gas to cover the cost of two bottles even with my heavy use. My back of a fag box maths works out at 30 6kg bottles before the Safefill would start to pay back the initial expense. My main reason to change would however be to give the middle finger to Calor and their near monopoly of the market achieved by what appear to be restrictive practices.

All these coments are true but if you can fill locally, the convenience has got to be worth something and the weight saving good.
Myself, I am struggling to get my local garages to accept. Out of 3 asked, only 1 will do. Also the retailer local to me on the Safefill website appears not to be a retailer of the product!!! but hopefully the nice man at Safefill will resolve that. You can by on the net but I begrudge postal charges, particularly when I will be going on a rally near a distributor.
Do you have a Morrisons nearbye that sells LPG?..We were informed that all Morrisons that actually sell LPG are now allowin the public to refill Safefill bottles only..

I take it it uses the same LPG that cars use like Autogas?
Does it need a new pigtail specifically for Safefill?
How much does a full refill cost at a garage forecourt?
Dave
Yes it uses the same as you would put in a car...its propane..
You dont need any other gadgets or gismos to use a Safefill bottle..youre general regulator screws into the screw thread fitting..
We fill ours up..16 litres approx for under £12...

Sal :-)
Sal, I went to Morrisons and they did not know anything about it. They kindly phoned their head office and they new nothing as well so they won't allow me to fill up. I have been onto Morrisons customer care but I am still awaiting a response guards that. If you know any different then please share this info and perhaps we can all get a Morrison's fill.
Same with me at our local Morrisons. They looked at me like I was from outerspace and then told me there was know way I could fill any portable gas storage bottles unless they were part of an installed system with a filling point on the outside of the vehicle such as on LPG fuelled cars. This was about six months ago when I was looking at a gaslow system and that was with a filling point on the outside of the caravan. Maybe I got a jobsworth but I don't need agro each time I need gas for the caravan.
