When planning a trip in the caravan we always look at what there is nearby and usually search on Google for local attractions - sometimes it takes quite a while to discover what there is that would interest us and attract us to an area.
But I suggest that no-one knows an area like the locals living there and they could be a source of good information for prospective visitors.
I'm not suggesting that every, one of, event be posted ( IE : dance in the village hall this Friday ), that would only clog up the thread - more like the sample below:
Twitersbourne in Wimpshire:
The local theatre is The Stageroom and they have regular productions for 2 days on each weekend throughout the summer.
There is a car boot sale at the Social Club every Saturday morning.
The local nature reserve is The Bunting Reserve just outside the village.
There is a Certified location at The Brewery Inn and a Commercial Site at the Woffers Rugby Club.
Etc Etc
To make it easy to avoid irrelevant posts in the thread ( IE: I'm not going anywhere near Twitersbourne in the near future ) it would be a good idea to include the TOWN and COUNTY in the subject line.
This could help us all identify and discover previously unthought of areas that are worthy of a visit. And bring more visitor revenue to your local area.
I'll start the ball rolling with a follow up post soon for my local area.
Colin
EDIT : Oh - just tried to add my follow up post and find I can't alter the subject line in the thread to MY area.
Oh well - a good idea if it were possible.

I am sure a lot of locals are like me and don't get to see what's in your own backyard. When you go away you make a point of looking up the 'touristy' places to visit. When there are events organised I tend to give them a miss due to the crowds.
We have a nice site at Hartsholme Park, it's on a regular bus route that runs until quite late.
There are quite a few C.L sites in the area.
The Caravan club site at Newark is not that far away.
Attractions:
The Cathedral area and the Cathedral itself, even if not religeous is a sight to behold especially at night all lit up and steeped in history.
There are
There are the little shops and cafes and steep hill on your way to get there, in themselves are an attraction. Also the 'Jews House' (bus takes you up to this area if you don't want to walk.)
Of course we have the fantastic Christmas market , first weekend in Dec.
Lincoln has various museums and the Usher Gallery.
The Castle...fantastic
The Lincolnshire Life Museum (free)...lots to see includes a full size tank!
The windmill opens certain days
The lower town has lots of shops.
The Brayford is a lovely area where you can sit and look at the boats whilst having a meal or drink in one of the places along the warf.
Take a boat ride along the river and see the brightly painted narrow boats.
This is where the large Odeon is too.
Theres the Royal Theatre which have top class shows on also the Drill Hall this has more entertainment.
Two Ten pin bowling alleys.
We have two commons which are great for walks and getting a breath of air, if you like horses one has many grazing on it, there are also various parks around and about.
The showground often have events on i.e..Steam Fair, Motorhome show, food fairs etc and also quite often they stage concerts with big name acts.
North Hykeham (3 miles) has the Terry O'toole theatre and a Swimming pool and sports Facilities at North Kesteven School.
Waddington Air base to view the planes and of course the air show in June.
Not forgetting the Red Aroows are very often out giving us a display.
Places to visit:
Doddington Hall..often events on craft fairs etc
Whisby Nature reserve...lots of walks, lakes, information center and cafe
Woodhall spa
Newark
Horncastle... (good for antiques and brica brac)
Torksey...big car boot Sat and Wed.
Hemswell.. Massive market and car boot Sunday
Rand Farm...for the kids.
Wragby maze
Market Rasen inc a day at the races.
Tattershall Castle
Boston...worth climbing to the top of the stump.
The wolds inc Snipe Dales...find out that Lincolnshire isn't all flat.
Daisy Maid Ice cream parlour and take away, also has crazy Golf and animals for the kids.
ETC ETC ETC theres loads more....just pay us a visit.
Crikey we have lots to do here - beautiful walled Roman City (which for us locals means all the amenities of a large City within a small area). We have the Coliseum, Cheshire Oaks, Chester Zoo, Blue Planet, Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, Candle Factory and Delamere Forest. Great swimming pool at Plas Madoc complete with flume and wave pool. If you have children theres a great play area and park in Frodsham called Castle Park
My favourite local sites are - The Plassey-(which is our fave site) and Manor Wood. Others I've heard good things about are Cheshire Fairoaks, Fishpools, Lady Heyes, The Hollies - (amazing farm shop) and the CS at Christleton.

Ok not the prettiest place in the world but a good central base, And is only 5 minutes from Junction 2 & 3 of the M42
We are 25 minutes drive from Birmingham city centre and 20 minutes from the NEC. We have a few parks including the Arrow Valley country Park which is a great place to go out if you have kids or dogs or both, Good flat paths to cycle round, Excellent play area, Free outdoor gym equipment, Visitors centre with cafe and Licenced bar, and lovely walks around the lake itself. We have a large shopping centre called the kingfisher shopping centre with plenty of car parks. Redditch was also at the heart of the needlemaking industry and a visit to Forge Mill Needle Museum is interesting and they have regular events going on their. We have 2 swimming pools, and a new one being constructed using the heat to warm the pool from the crematorium next door which is apparently the first of its kind in the UK
Within half an hour from Redditch you can get to, Stratford on Avon, Evesham, Birmingham, Worcester,Kidderminster,
There are not that many camping sites but just off the M42 Junction 3 is Chapel Lane caravan Club site so anyone staying there I would definitely recommend a visit to the Arrow Valley Country Park at least.
------------- Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
Come to NOTTINGHAM
Can recommend Blenheim Farm Caravan Park for you central stay funnily located behind an industrial site but gorgeous hidden location and fantastic facilities
Nottingham and the surrounding areas are stuffed full of things to do
From Blenheim walk to the tram and enjoy everything the city has to offer without the hassle of parking, shopping galore, tour of the caves, nottingham castle, brewhouse yard museum, a ghost walk, englands oldest pubs
Or take a trip up the road to Sherwood forest and Newstead Abbey or Rufford Abbey
