is this normal during winter? if it is what is the best way to get rid of it? we went to the caravan the other weekend and the celing of the awning looked like it had been rained on it was that bad.

This is normal in winter unless you have heat in the awning.

thanks, thats a relief, we have no heat in our awning at the momet but we are plannning on doing so soon.

Even if you have heat in the awning you will get condensation once the heat is removed. If it is not wiped off you may end up getting a type of mould on the roof which is nearly impossible to remove.
We never use a proper awning in the winter preferring to use one of the cheapie lightweight awnings.

The only thing to reduce condensation during cold months is plenty of ventilation, cure it nigh impossible.

Damp rising from the ground can create condensation so a few layers of flooring/tarp can assist in preventing/reducing condensation

we have just laid down a floor in the awning using pallets and then board, we are also thiking of putton lino on the top of the board

We had all that but still got condensation, but then we had a gas heater in the awning. However our friends had a electric fan heater and had the same problem. Only way around it is to have the heating in the awning going 24/7.
