Most vans now seem to have a fibreglass cover over the A-Frame which would make one difficult to fit. If you don't have a mover it could be a handy alternative especially for those that would struggle to move the van manually.

I use the wife to guide me. Easier and probably a lot cheaper even with regular servicing.

Just back under the hitch. There's no need for any fancy things like this, that just add weight and serve no purpose.

What if you're hitching up several trailers every day, and none of them belong to you? As usual, you're working on your own.
It's just something you have to learn to do. Of course it's easier with someone to watch, but perfectly possible on your own. Any competent driver will be able to centre the car on the hitch, so it's just a question of how far back you go.
When you think you're close, get out and look. When you get back in, take a sighting on something outside against the door frame. Don't move your head. You can easily see how far to go.

I have a sheet of plywood with a notch in it. Tight fit over swan neck to protect back of car if you go too far.

I used to do that when I had a caravan and I was pretty good at it...except for the odd couple of occasions now apparent by the chips in the rear bumper
That gadget looks pretty ideal to me providing as mentioned it can be fitted...and is a sensible price of course.

It looks fine, if you haven't go a motor mover, but no need for this if you have a mover. ------------- David

I have to hitch up on my own so I back up using a peice of tape stuck on my caravan window and one on my car's back window and when they are in line I'm there. Simple.------------- Rose

a useful aid to single handed hitching without a mover but unecessary if facing downhill where you would need to be on the brake. Couldn't use it on our van as it has the fibreglass a frame cover.
Limited application with caravan. Good I guess for getter a boat hitched on a slipway. ------------- Steve

This seems a good idea but it would only be practical to use on level ground. If your caravan was facing a downward incline the caravan would just roll into the rear of the car so the use of this tool would be rather limited actually in comparison to a motor mover.

I still don't see why you would want to move the caravan at all, whether by this device, a motor mover or by hand,
Just bring the car to the caravan and back under the hitch
I can't see this catching on with artics, for example. Just another product to solve a non existent problem.
Jim.
