we're thinking of taking our caravan to the Latitude Festival next year, has anyone any experience of taking a caravan as opposed to a tent? it will be in the family campervan area, no electric but we can live without that.....
Different festival, but I've attended one for two years running now, and it's been great! Just booked for the third time to go in my caravan.
First you need to make sure that they will allow a caravan+car into the campervan area. Also ask about access onto the area as there may be a reson why campervans only are allowed, could be too difficult to tow a caravan onto. Providing the answers are yes to both, go ahead! It's much more conmfortable that a tent!
Although there won't be EHU, there should be drinking water on tap, and also a Chemical Waste disposal point. If you have your own loo, that will make a big difference as the loos at festivals can be dire.
I take my own food so that I don't have to rely on whatever can be bought, and use the fridge/kettle/cooker on gas.
I'm too old for a tent these days, and it can be cold at nights, even in the summer, so I'm glad the one I go to has spaces for caravans!
Thanks jax365, latitude do take caravans, got really muddy in the carpark last year so could be fun towing her on and off! we have to keep the car with the caravan and are allowed to pitch an awning or tent so going to buy a porch awning rather than take our big one.
do you fill your aquaroll up at festivals, just concerned about the water being tampered with - but probably being extra cautious as we'll be in family area so should be ok.
it will be good to have a dry space to retire to at night couldn't face a tent in the wet and mud -
Yes I fill my water supply up when I get there. I take a small 4 ltr water bottle so I can have a cup of tea after pitching, before I go and get the water carrier filled.
Take some cheap rubber mats in case you have to get your caravan out of mud - Wilko's do cheap ones! Also, I would take a mat or cover of some sort for the carpet, just to keep it clean in the event of mud walking in.
I have a movelite awning for my little caravan, so my luggable loo and portable shower are kept in there!
