Looking for some help. Im a complete newby with a Lunar Premiere 516 1995 model. I want to drain it down but the handbook is sadly lacking in info. It shows a plug to remove on the outside where I plug in the water pump. However there is no plug it is a one piece housing. Is there anywhere else I should look? Also do I need to remove the blue fluid and pink fluid from the thetford cassette? Answers required quickly please as I fear the weather is about to turn.

Many Thanks,

Mark.

yes remove all fluids,if you have a round water heater ie truma there is a yellow tap next to it to drain the heater.drain the toilet flush tank, the drain is inside the compartment where the toilet cassette goes.remove ANY fluids inside the caravan including drinks and cleaners, blue and pink refill bottles.

Basically, if any fluid freezes on board your unit then you need remove it otherwise any ice will expand and cause damage, it's a simple as that. Regarding the fresh water drain plug, it is usually on the outside where the large square flue is for the hot water tank on the bottom left. It is a nylon plug about 16mm. diameter with a screw driver slot in. It may be tight to turn but unscrew it anti-clockwise and there will be a spigot with a rubber ring behind the screw head to seal the water so be careful you don't lose it and make sure it hasn't perished either as you will need to replace it after the winter if it has perished. When you have drained all the water, check the pressure switch too (if you have one) usually found under the seat or in a cupboard and undo the jubilee clips either side remove tjhe attached pipes to drain any remaining water. I got caught out last year and had to replace my pressure switch due to ice damage.

We have a 2006 Lunar and indeed the drain off tap is under the front bench seat next to the water heater. Flick the lever into the upright position to drain, it will take a few mins to do this and once the flow has stopped from under the van, then close down the lever into the level position ready for refilling next time.

With ours if you push the lever down as far as it will go, then it will leak somewhat, it needs to be level to be sealed. Its always best to leave your taps in the open position also, just incase any water remains traped in the pipes and does freeze, with the taps opened at least it will give some space for the water to expand within the system without causing the pipes to burst. I always attach a rubber washing machine filler hose over the tap in the kitchen and blow down it to help it to drain better, then unscrew the showerhead off the hose and blow down that likewise, both with the tap in the open position.

Hi  MARKO39, Welcome to the forum, as tango55 has said with the out side 16mm plug on heater unit, there is also a small plug at the top of the heater unit left hand side, above the 16mm plug, if you give that a ΒΌ turn it will release the pressure in unit and assist the draining, remember at check that it has closed. Good luck
