Hello all, before I contact powerwheel bods thought I'd try picking your brains first....Got a mover fitted to the van last used about July no problem. Just been out to clean van and pack away for winter and found mover not wanting to work. Moved the van a couple of meters and then died, it sounded a bit run down as though battery not charged enough. When I checked the box inside the van the green light was on constant which I read in handbook means not enough power. (less than 9v). Now for the confusing bit! The battery indicator in the van and the battery itself reads that its fully charged? Any ideas? I asked the man when it was fitted whether I needed a larger battery but he said it should be fine. Any experiences of this? Will contact pwrwheel soon so any info will be gratefully received, always best to go fully armed eh!
ok michael, will do. If it is dropping then will a bigger battery help? Strange how it worked in the summer and not now. Also next season we're looking at a seasonal storage pitch so it will be unplugged from the mains for a week or two. Does that mean the mover will be useless when I come to move it? Starting to think it wasn't the best £800 I've ever spent..
as a rule a fully charged 85 amp will cope with a mover.get a battery drop test check at a garage.i changed to 110 amp but you must check room for this to fit by measuring the the box.only saying this as a battery fault on testing by the fitter could mean a charge from powrtouch if they come out to you.not covered by the warranty.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll have a gander at the battery first before I call. Looks like more expense, who said caravaning was a cheap alternative!

Don't think anyone said caravanning was a cheap alternative. It's a lifestyle choice.
Good inexpensive batteries here alpha
This is where I got mine. They are on ebay too.
We've a powrtouch HD fitted to our 1500kg van, and have no problem running it on an 85amp hour battery; sounds like your battery may not be properly charged, or is reaching the end of its life.

Likewise we have the HD fitted and run this off an 85AH......the reason we opted for the powrtouch was they state you can run them off an 85AH battery and don't need a 110AH. I would suspect the battery may need checking / charging?
No problems here with an 85aH battery, but the volt meter in the van doesn't tell you much. Sounds like the voltage drops under load, probably the battery needs charging, the electrolyte level low, terminals corroded or loose or the battery is terminally ill.
Before you go spending money check that you haven't left anything switched on like lights or your aerial booster. I had the same problem when I had a Powertouch mover fitted. I had mine fitted at a friends house as there's no chance of getting the van on our drive without a mover. My O.H. was showing my friends wife around the van and left the shower room lights on. The morning after when I came to take the van home the battery was completely flat and, until I'd checked the battery voltage, I was blaming the mover. Without the mover your battery can be flat as a pancake and if you always use a mains hook-up on site you'd probably never notice.
