We have a Daewoo microwave in our caravan. We went to use it for the first time about 2 weeks ago to do jacket potatoes. After 5 minutes it went dead. About 10 minutes later it came back on and we had to reset everything. Only the microwave goes dead.
This happened again last weekend when we attempted to do jacket potatoes. Seems to work for about 5 minutes and then trip off.
Any one else had a similar experience?
Thought of that but wonder why it is overheating when doing two jacket potatoes? After all we do the same size potatoes in our home microwave with no issues. There is more than adequate ventilation around the microwave.
if not a low wattage microwave it could be tripping out the mains.see
a typical uk site box is 10 amps max,france it could be as low as 5 amps.all these if used simultaneously should be added together.
fridge / 0.5 amps
charger / 0.5 amps
water heater /3.75 amps
blown/convection heating / 8.7 amps
colour tv / 2.5 amps
microwave / 10 amps.
air conditioning / 4 amps

I have heard of several Daewoo m/waves with a similar problem due to a faulty thermal cut-out on the magnetron.It doesn't have anything to do with the heat of the oven it is the magnetron that is overheating.

It does come back on after 10 minutes so nothing else is tripping off.
I also had the same problem on new van after 5 mins it would just switch off it was very hot on the sides I was thinking of taking it out but it would just be an open space .It is a sanyo .
I've got a Daewoo microwave in my 2010 'van and despite using it most days while I'm away (about 130 days so far this year) I've never had a problem. Like Saxo says it could be an iffy magnetron. Does all the power to the microwave go off including the control panel?
Actually as its under warranty I would get a replacement fitted asap.

My mate has got a Bailey Unicorn (I think) and he had a problem with the Daewoo fitted, they changed it without hesitation under warranty.There's not much you can do on a DIY basis and it can be hazardous to attempt it.

Thanks. Dealer is organising a replacement without even checking it themselves. Must be a common problem.
The Magic Chef microwave my son has in the states has an automatic resetting TOC and Sensata make one for use in domestic appliances in the UK it seems a pity that all manufacturers don't follow suit.
