A bit of advice need please Guys on this van,

Is there only one 12v connection that plugs into car unlike 2 on uk vans?

and it does have a leisure battery connection doesnt it?.

Sorry for appearing dumb on this but i know there are folks here who are helpful.

If the van is not designed to be fitted with a leisure battery you would need to fit a charger unit as well as a battery & either a grey 12s lead or wire the whole thing with the modern 13 core lead & plug. An older continental van unless modified in UK will have just a 7pin plug & a newer one a 13pin same as current UK 'vans.

I had a 2007 Sterckemann (same dealer) and that had a leisure battery and 2 sockets for connecting to the car. They are both French vans so should have 2 7 pin sockets. Don't think that the 13 pin became more of a standard until the last couple of years. The dealer should be able to advise if its one you are buying or the buyer if its a private sale.

It would depend if the van has been modified for the UK market, or is supplied in French spec. If it is French spec it might have ehu with 12v transformer & no battery/charger with 7 pin plug(or possibly 13pin or 7pin in 13pin push&twist format)or it could have leisure battery with 13pin plug. If it has only a 7pin plug the fridge will not operate while driving.

It would also have continental mains sockets inside but the outside ehu socket will be same as UK. The 12n/12s twin cables were never used on the continent. It is UK only. 13pin plugs have been used on continental caravans for much longer than UK 'vans.

Just a quick update to say I did purchase the caravelair and it did indeed have leisure battery and charger fitted and both grey and black sockets ...cracking lightweight caravan!

Check the wheel nut sizes on the van. I was once at a motorway service station and someone with a caravelair couldn't change his wheel as the nuts were larger than his wheel brace.

Probably 19mm, cars are often 17mm.

When I had the Sterckemann the wheelnuts and corner steady nuts were smaller. The leg winder was supplied with the van but always carried one of the cross wheelbraces in the car anyway so I had one that would fit always.
