Are you still using Elsan blue bags David? They are not readily available in the areas I tend to go so I might have to get them at the next caravan show I attend. I'm not too impressed with the cheapie ones and the Thetford blue bags don't seem to work as well as the fluid.

I don't think blue fluid elsan points are emptied into septic tanks, they are entirely separate. The green fluid is entirely herbal based.
I was always told you're not supposed to empty the blue stuff down the loo, although I know people do, & it probably get's very diluted en'route anyway.
The blue is very heavily chemically based, with stuff like formaldehyde in it (someone's bound to tell me they don't use that any more now), I expect it also contains bleaches & various sufficants, which would undoubtedly kill off bacteria in a proper septic tank.
I'm only guessing here, but I expect the site owner I spoke to (the one who banned blue) must use a combined septic tank, or it must be cheaper to get the green stuff taken away. He seemed to think that more & more sites were doing the same thing, & said it may well become quite commonplace in the future.
I only wish I'd gone into more detail now, but I didn't like to talk sh*t for too long!
I think I will keep my eyes open for some of the blue teabags on special offer. I too always use too much fluid, so the extra cost would probably be immaterial anyway.

Still got some of the Elsan bags left - they do a good job. I was going to buy some more at the NEC in October, but couldn't see any. Instead I saw some tablets, can't remember the make, but they are also very good, IMHO - they were better value than the bags too. So bags or tablets willdo me from now on.
I also use blue bags. I get them either instore on offer at various dealers. Or I get them online off ebay. Theres a shop on there for kenmore caravans. I recently paid £12.45 for 18 bags with no postage.
