Hi All just been on IOW ferry sites. Thinking of going 15th September for a week. Couldnt believe they are asking between £160 & £180 return. Where can I go for the cheapest crossing.------------- A barman is just a pharmacist

We paid in October and like you, suprised at the cost. I think I read somewhere that it is one of the most expensive bits of water to cross.
I'm pretty sure that I read for the summer months that some of the sites will pay for your crossing if you stay for a certain period of time or more.
Sadly not in October though.

Someone I know has just booked a week camping over there, in June (half term) for £20 per night, including the ferry ticket!
This is only camping, so no caravan on tow, but it seems to be a very good price, & there's at least 3 of them going, possibly 5.
It was booked through the camp site. I know islanders get cheaper ferry tickets, & I believe island businesses get further discounts. So I can only recommend trying this.

The CC magazine advertises Short break, 5 nights plus ferry (up to 4 people) from £141. We went last year to Whitefield Forest, great site, took our 4 year old grandson with us. He loved the crossing and the site. We made the mistake of going from Southampton when the boatshow was on - nightmare traffic. Better to go from Portsmouth I reckon. Be warned that there's nowhere to park at the docks if you arrive early at either Southampton or at Isle of Wight.

We went with Red Funnel a few years ago for Easter. It was advertised at £99 but once there were a few extras that had to be done on top, but I don't recall exactly what it was but I think there was a compulsory insurance policy you had to take out and possibly I had to pay a bit more because of the length, although it wasn't a long outfit. I think it came to about £140 all in which was still a lot cheaper than paying for everything separately.
