The week before Xmas, I discovered my partner has been messing around with not one, but two other guys (she has history I've since found out ). When I tackled her about it her, her response was for me to get out of 'her house'. Problem is, she does own the house, I have no rights to it. Seeing as I don't have the finances to buy or even rent, I am now looking for a touring caravan that I can live in. I want something that will be comfortable, warm and cosy (I am 57 years old and need at least a little comfort ). I will be by myself, I don't have kids, so I don't envisage anybody staying. I would like to have a decent amount of storage if possible. I can just about afford something around the £7500.00 mark. If anyone has any suggestions, experiences or opinions on which tourer to buy, I would be most grateful. Thank you in advance.
There are plenty of fixed bed vans out there, think you would want fixed bed if living in. No idea if you have towing experience, if not check your car can tow van you want.
Some sites allowing living in others dont due to their licences etc
Awhile ago there was a couple posting regarding living in a van, they were even doing a blog, ill try and find it.
It might be an idea to find a site that is willing to take you on a semi permanent basis before you spend any money unless you are prepared to move site every three weeks.
one thing i would suggest is find somewhere to put it while your looking for a suitable 'van, unless you already have a site in mind,
shouldn't be too hard to find a decent tin tent for that sort of money, you may find what your looking for right here on the forum.
personally if i was thinking of living in a 'van by my-self for any length of time, i'd be looking for something at least 4 berth (more than enough storage space for 1 person), may-be with a fixed bed.perhaps something like an ELDDIS AVANTE 534, have seen these used ( circa 2004) for around £3,500 on the web

Dont want to teach you to suck eggs, but watch the 1900Kg that might be max towing weight, not weight you would want to tow a caravan at. They suggest a caravan should be 85% of the cars kerbweight. Sorry if telling you something you already know.
Least you have experience in living in small space.
Also if living in you might want a decent sized bathroom not the small wet room we have in our old girl, thats upto you just a thought tho.
You could probably lodge in a shared house for far less than site fees per week, but I can understand if you prefer your own space.
The fact is, bigger vans are often cheaper on ebay. I've been looking into the prospects of doing something similar myself, only I'm looking for someone who has some land & wants a presence there to look after the place (I know of one, but am waiting for the present occupant to move out, which may never happen).
To be perfectly honest, you could find a reasonably good 4/5 berth van for around £500-£1000 on ebay, so your money should get you something quite plush I reckon. You could even go to a dealer with that kind of cash & get a good deal.

What about a static ? on a site then you get 11 months living with a month "on holiday " in a flat in city break ?
Depending upon your choices of site you can get caravans reasonable such as
Atlas Mirage 2002 - For Sale £6,995.00. This is a on a site in Wales (north wales - morfa lodge )
Maybe worth a think ! Warm and spacious and cheaper as the site fees tend to be up front rather than touring !

dont know if you sre in employment but have you considered living and working on a site ?????,your doing the right thing getting out and sorting your life out ,you can get big caravans ie tabbert ,hobby etc and live comfy in them ,i wish you all the best for your future
You might be able to get a static caravan,but you would also have to pay site fees,gas,and electric.There might be an age limit for the static.Watch in case you are only allowed to use it for 11 months in the year.Hope you get something soon.All the best,Trouter
