Hi peeps have just bought a swift corniche, on inspection the "washable" wallpaper has come away from the wallboard in some places, now i need to glue it back on, is there any special glue/paste i need to use, there is no damp, it just appears to have come unstuck? is this the normal covering, only it looks to be in keeping with the rest of the van, cheers. rolls

Its unlikely to be washable wallpaper unless someone has done a bit of a refurbishment job in the past. the wallboards in a caravan are pre-finished at the manufacturers compleat with a decorative side.

It is possible to re-glue or re-paper using a washable wallpaper and PVA glue, which is available in most DIY stores. More importantly make sure both surfaces are compleatly dry, dust and grease free, and free from any signs of mildew or mould before you apply the glue or your likely to find that the mould will come through and show on the surface under the waterproof skin, or in the case of dust and grease it wont adhere very well.

It's not technically a wall paper, the wall board comes with the laminate already attached. This is done when the board is manufactured and is not something you can recreate once it is fitted.

The only correct repair is to replace the wall board if you want to put it right. If you do manage to stick it back on then there is the potential for moisture to get between the laminate and the board. Given that the board is not waterproof, it relies on the laminate for the water proofing then you are going to be leaving yourself at risk of getting damp into the wall. If you do manage to stick it on then it may be worth giving the area a coat of exterior grade varnish to reduce the likelihood of moisture getting between the laminate and the board, but as I say, the only real cure is to replace the board.

For what it's worth, the board is between £30 and £50 a sheet, depending on the pattern.

If you do use PVA make sure it's the water-proof/water resistant one.
