Hi again. I think the end dinette/bunks would be most practical for us. It means that we wouldn't disturb the kids too much when getting in and out of the van (smokers ). I recollect coming across a lightweight 4 berth with this layout that had a door as opposed to a curtain which would be even more practical, though I can't for the life of me remember the make or model.
As you suggest Red Mick, we don't have much need for a large bathroom though after years with the Dandy, a toilet and running hot water would be a welcome luxury.
Try a lunar zenith 4 really lightweight, made from 2002 until 2009, light airy, all the things you need, well made, and has bunks at the back, this are not separated by a curtain but a concertina folding door screen. And adult can sleep comfy on the bottom, the top bunk has a limit of 9 stone ( if I can remember) we had one and it was lovely, only sold it as our son no longer comes and I wanted an end bathroom.

They are really reasonable too.
