In a dilemma whether to go through with our weekend booked at York this weekend after seeing the forecast tonight. The caravan has heating etc but this will only be our second trip away in it and we have two young children. Do you think the weather is just too cold for the trip to be enjoyable? Advice please
No , we stayed in ours over the weekend in the snow, and it was freezing, but we were toasty warm, duvet on the bed pjs, heater on, warm as toast, you'll love it, give it a go :)

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
You can always stay warm in the caravan if you keep your heating on low but it's the road conditions you need be more concerned about really. If they haven't forecast snow or ice then don't let it deter you. Safety first is always the main priority.
It's been a while since I had kids around, but if the van has heating and you are on EHU, it should be fine. Nice and warm inside. If you are putting an awning up, take a fan heater along too to heat it. It will give more useable space.
The temperature outside will be the same, whether you are at home or away in the caravan. Just take warm clothing and as said above, hot waterbottles, and have a fun weekend!
If you can get there safely being in the caravan with heating on should be ok. If it was me I would use an electric heating on a low setting while asleep. Personally I would not use a gas heater during the night. The best bet would be to cancel if you are concerned, most campsites will give you a credit note to use later.
We are in the South of England where the snow has missed us and there's only a bit of ice in places so we're venturing out for a rally this weekend. Our last trip was in November which was fine - we just kept the heater on low all night. We've got duvets, sleeping bags, blankets so along with the blown air heating and a combination of any of the covers I'm sure we'll be cosy. As has been said, as long as the road conditions are safe, we'll be going.
we were on a rally over New Year with no electric and managed with our gas fire, got soo warm that we had to turn it down. We also use our season 3 sleeping bag. For safety we have a carbon monoxide alarm fitted so we're happy to have it on low over night, however if we had been on hookup we would have used the electric heater. We're away this weekend again on a rally and looking forward to it. If the roads are safe I'd go for it.

As already mentioned road conditions would be the only concern. We have stayed in the caravan with snow on the ground and icicles hanging from the awning rail but nice and warm inside. As a caravan interior is smaller than a typical living room (sitting room / lounge, whatever you call it) it is much easier to heat!
on our very first outing we went to sherwood holiday park 4 years ago.the weather was freezing all water pipes on site were frozen , lake was frozen and we extended our stay another 7 days.it was brill and when in van was very nice and warm .go you will enjoy it

Thanks for the advice everyone, sounds like the caravan will be cosy enough with a few extra home comforts but we'll maybe wait another day and see what the roads will be like before making the final decision. As we are used to only getting away in the summer with a tent we are really keen to make the most of our caravan and use it for a longer season. Lets hope it warms up a little as we get closer to the weekend.
We are in our van at the moment near Gainsbourough and have been since the begining of January, and are nice and warm we have a fan heater which is fine. The van has central heating but dont bother with it just turn the fan heater on when we get up in the morning soon warms up,i find it too hot if leave the heater on all night
