does anyone know the smallest possible car capable of towing a camplet trailer tent without being too worried of being dragged back

We need to know the max weight of the trailer tent to work that out.

I would have thought any car that can legally have a towbar fitted would be able to tow it as long as you don't load it full of other stuff, it only weighs in at 250kg.

If the trailer is unbraked you need to check the max unbraked towing weight of any car you are considering. some small cars have very low unbraked towing weights. A Ford Fiesta or any similar sized car would pull the trailer ok but you need to check car handbook to ensure a towbar can be fitted & unbraked tow weight is sufficient.

It would be better to go for larger engine ie 1.4 or better still the diesel version. a 1.0litre engine might struggle a bit at motorway speeds.

I towed the camplet concorde with a 1.4 diesel Clio... didn't even know it was there, and that was with the chairs and table etc strapped to the camplet roof and three bikes on the car roof!!!!!

Sounds horrific, but honestly, the Clio never skipped a beat!!

... I should probably add that was all the way to Italy and back, through (and back!!) over the Alps, so not just up the road and back!
