Yeah, I got that bit. My factory weight is 998KG and the MTPLM is about 1230KGS So around 230KGS for stuff. My recommended nose weight is 75KGS. With my tow car I am running at about 78% tow ratio.
What I want to know is should I still put some heavy stuff in the car to balance things out? Sort of spread the load.
If you keep within the Car loading limits it's best to load up the car to keep the the load in the caravan down and the noseweight withinn limits. You don't give details of your outfit so cannot give any precise details but the "personal load" figure for the caravan is normally a lot less than a family might require for a holiday, plus you have to take account of battery, gas bottles, bedding, kitchen utensiles, food, TV, etc.
We are buying a Sprite Alpine 4 and towing with a Skoda Octavia II 2.0 TDI ESTATE (140BHP) (weighting 1540 - not 1430). What towcar gives it a score of 78% and advise a 70KG nose weight.
I suspect your 'advised' nose weight of 70kg is the maximum, and should not be exceeded, positioning of the load in the caravan is the way to acheive this, using a weight gauge,m at least for the first few times.
By the time you have gas bottles, electric cable, kitchen utensils and crockery items, plus the other obligatory extras - fire extinguisher, water and waste containers, t.v. etc, then I think most of your 230kg will be used, and a moter mover will just about do it, so I think clothing and non perishable food stuffs are best in the car- as close to being over the back axle as possible.
I would try as far as possible to pack in the van the stuff you need to use in the van. So clothes, bedding, pots and dishes, basic foodstuffs, fridge stuff, toiletries, plus no doubt a few odds and ends. Weigh it all as you pack. Remember to weigh other things that are not in the MIRO, like the gas cylinder and battery, and add them in too.
In the car you can pack everything else....water and waste containers, outside furniture, extra foodstuffs, awning maybe.
