Hello

Does anyone know the thicknes of padlock that will fit through the bolt on the Alko wheel carrier. Vans in storage so cant check.

I tried this on our last-but-one van, and found it got very rusty and difficult to remove. Maybe wrapping it in gaffer tape would help?

He! He! £7.13 from Al-ko or £1.50 from yer local cheap shop. All made in the same Chinese factory. Spray with plenty of lithium grease regularly to keep it working ok.

The hole in the threaded shaft for a padlock is 4.5mm. The threaded shaft itself is 12mm diameter.

you can get waterproof padlocks, only cost a few quid more...got one on my shed.
that should solve the corrosion problem.

That looks like one of those padlocks you can knock off with a sharp tap with a hammer on the top of the case.

Hi i was looking to secure my al-ko spare wheel. The hole in the thread for the padlock is only about 2.5mm dia and the padlock is tiny. I decided to use a rope type bike lock that threads through the wheel, carrier and chassis. Much safer and weather proof.
