Just got a Bailey Senator off a friend and it has the ubiquitous black streaks where rainwater has run off windows and appliance housings etc..

Looking in an acessory shop today, "Black Streak Remover" was £8 a bottle!!

Surely there is a simple low cost solution using easily available cleaning products. Any ideas please?

I'm wary of these "specialist" products, since my ex bought some Holts tar remover and it turned out to be white spirit!!!

You could try one of these in your awning rail to prevent black streaks. Shop around to find a strip cheaper. It deflects the rainwater away from the awning rail where dirt etc can accumulate and thus prevent the streaks

I use fenwicks caravan cleaner, diluted at 2:1,in a spray bottle, was told by a dealer this was basicly the same as black streak removers, but works out much cheaper - and only have to buy one product to do two jobs. Works ok for me. Incidently, silicne spray used on window rubbers etc causes much worse black streaking.

Use One Dry Wash - and you'll end up by doing the rest of the van to. Dead easy!

Yes furinture polish, the type with beeswax. Also as a preventer you can buy the awning beading per metre and it is similar to the rubber stuff that was previously mentioned but a lot cheaper. Its also keeps the rail free of bugs.
