Just got back from what should have been a quiet weekend in the van with another family in there van at Luccombes Coarse Fishery in exeminster.
When I phoned the owner to enquire if it was suitable for twin axled vans he stated yes however, the lane is a single track towards the end.
No problem I thought.
Approx 2 miles of single track with around 3 passing places and I arrived to be greeted with a very tight entrance and unbeknown to me I ripped the offside awning rail and dug a hole straight through the back panel of the van on the stone hedgerow.
I was gutted upon realing this and rang my mate who was a little bit behind me to warn him.
Too late, he had done the same.
The guy running the place could not have cared less and said he had bigger units arrive without problem which is strange as our units are the longest on the road !
We spent the weekend worrying about how we would be able to get out and eventually after blocking the lane we got out using the motor movers.
There is not really a moral to this story as we had done as much as we could beforehand by asking.
Rant over and insurance claim underway.
------------- Albino, Can"t say fairer than that !
The entrance does look a little tight on Google. Have they widened it since then? The site does not show up on Sat images or streetview, so I'm guessing it must be new.
Having said that, they gor the Static caravans in!
Static caravans went in on an articulated lorry which A - pivots at the front and not the middle like caravans and b- they were put in prior to the gates going up, as the jumped up little man there tried to tell me otherwise.
Thanks for the comments, my insurance are on the case and I am taking the van to a dealer for insurance inspection this coming Friday.

Sorry to hear about your van Scar, I guess at least your insured, so should be all sorted.
Came close myself last year, ended up travelling for about a quarter of a mile with with no more than a couple of inches spare. Luckily the hedges had been cut the week before. My own fault on this occasion though, missed the postage stamp sized sign which said not suitable for caravans.
Couldn't help but think though that the owners should have advised all of the two ways into the site, one was definitely not suitable.
My dearest wife on the isle wight was navigating for me and took me down a road which led to the CC&C site. The road just got narrower and narrower until I got stuck, then a van came the other way I had to reverse into someones gateway a couple of hundred yards back. Its a good job that I am good at manoeuvring I later found out that if we would have read the site direction notes we would have known to go the other way.

with a limited inventory
Crikey just read through my previous remark - i wasnt trying to say that it was your mistake. Its just that the owners should have put in measures to stop this as it a law suit just waiting to happen. I ask again do they state about the restricted access on their website etc.

Artics pivot at the front and the wheels are at the back ........ that means they will find it more difficult to get around a corner than something that pivots in the centre
The web site shows loads of quite long vans, so it's possible that either it's a major issue or you were just unluck or a little careless.
