Hello all. Two of us tried to shift our empty sprite major on its storage plot and couldn't budge it! Therefore gonna take the plunge and get mover fitted. However, Before I commit thought I might just ask what I need to bear in mind when selecting a model. Want it to be reliable without breaking the bank. Been quoted 790 for Truma go2 fitted.
Hi TTurtle, A good well charged battery, 75amp should be ok, higher ampere better if you have room in battery box, you will need to measure the height, width, depth, of your battery box, and make sure you still have enough room for the battery terminals, I have the Reich Mover with remote start( Press the button and the rollers engage the wheel), Reich tend to be more expensive, I had to have the Reich fitted to my van as the chassis frame was not as deep as normal vans, I find my mover very reliable, and I use a 75amp battery, my van only weighs 900kg. You will need to know the weight of your van and buy a mover that will be able to move your van weight, length of guarantee, how good the customer service is in the event of a fault, others will be along shortly to give you their opinions and experiences on their movers, after you weigh up all the facts, it is your choice which to go for, for your budget.

If in Doubt Check it Out.
I have a Purpleline Enduro. Got it fitted for £699.00. Works a treat until I had an issue with it cutting out going backwards every now and then. I rang the dealer up and the purpleline rep came out 2 days later and repaired it on site. Fantastic service. Other than that no problems with it at all. Its manual engagement model. My dad has an electronic engagement mover and has had quite a bit of trouble with his and was nearly double the price of mine. Each time he has had to take it to a dealer rather than them come out. His is a Reich.
I picked one up from Bolsover Caravans at the weekend (Enduro re-branded) for just over £400 with an eBay discount code.
Fitted myself in around 5 hours. Worked fantastic when tested and was very easy to DIY fit.
I have the original Enduro now coming up for 6 years old and has been faultless.Has to manoeuvre my caravan 30 meters from the back of my house to the front drive no problem.A lot of people are now selling Enduro under their own brand names such as Towsure and Riviera.
We have an enduro had it two years and been faultless, it cost us £500 and hubby fitted it himself took him a few hours on a Sunday , and it was done, we are really happy with it.

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
I feel they are all 'fit for purpose' and my main deciding factor would be 'support', can you get somebody to timely look after it if it goes wrong, spares availability etc.
I have had now both an early Reich and from 2008 a Powrtouch, both have done what they were purchased for and without issues. Both on single axle vans, the first a 1.7 tonnes van.
The only reason for not transferring my trusty Reich to the new van was the new van was I felt at 1.9 tonnes too much weight on our 1:14 driveway.
Another vote here for the Reich mover, were now in the third season of using ours and without it we would have had to have given up caravanning a long time ago due to health problems.
Im a little concerned though when you state that two strong adults cannot manage to budge your caravan even a few inches on your storage pitch, and im wondering if this may be down to the brakes coroding on if its been standing a long time in the same position? If this is so, no mover on the market would solve this problem without you rectify this fault and free the brakes off the wheels first.
Where ever possible its always best to store the caravan with the wheels chocked by the shaped blocks you can buy quite cheaply, which also resist line pressure on the tyres that pieces of wood or bricks would give, and then leave the caravan brakes in the off position wherever possible to prevent this type of adhesion.

We have the Powrtouch HD mover and it cost £800 fully fitted. They also come with 5 yrs PARTS & LABOUR so check that any others you are looking at will offer the same (some claim 5 yrs but they only refer to parts when you read the small print!). Movers are much the same these days but its the aftersales that is important....powrtouch will come to you anywhere in the uk to do a repair under warranty.
Also check what AH your battery is and if you will need to change it. Some makes state a min of 100ah or 110ah so this may be another cost to factor in. Others, like powrtouch, will run a on recomended 85ah......but we have run ours on 75ah will no issues.
The best thing we ever brought and with our new provence been so much longer I would never be able to get it on the driveway, or into the storage pitch, without it.
I looked around on the net for the best deal and then phoned powrtouch directly (http://www.powrwheel.com/Main.asp) and asked for them to price match........they do offer this but just don't advertise it. I then ordered direct from powtouch as they offered 6 months 0% after paying a £200 deposit. For example you can get it fitted for £799 at: http://www.busyoutdoors.com/powrtouch-heavy-duty-mover/p64. Make sure they include the powrbar within the price as this means you can engage both rollers from one side......although it takes a bit more strength! We went for the HD version as it was only £50 more and it has meant we could move it to a heavier van when we changed (which we have since done).
Rang powrwheel but they wouldnt price match or do 6 mths interest free. Quoted me £995 on the powrtouch hd. However riversway leisure in Preston are going to supply it and get powrwheel to fit it for £769. Will just have to stretch credit card rather than pay over 6 months.Thks for the tip-off - hope I can return favour in future!
£769 is a good price and I am sure you will find it well worth the money. If you are with the CC they are doing a credit card with 0% for 12 months so you could get one of these and then transfer your balance over........I do this all the time as a way of getting cheap credit and providing you pay it off in time its cheaper than paying interest on an existing card!
Help needed. I've just returned home and engaged my powertouch mover. It sonds like a machine gun banging and sparks coming off it. Got warranty up to October but any ideas whats wrong before I caall them.

All sorted. Powertouch fitter came this morning and replaced both rollers as the bearings were shot. As they say no quibble guarrantee. He also gave it a good oiling and straightened the activation bar which I bent. Top marks to powertouch.
