Hi we have just bought our 1st caravan abbey stafford.the owner was selling due to maraige break up so didnt know anything about the van.is there any web sites i can find information about the caravan weight year etc as i would like to get it insured thanks any help much appreciated.

welcome to the outdoor world.

check on windows,little plate by door or on the drawbar,should tell you the chassis or vin number.also if number edched on window this could mean van is cris registered,if not post on here any info on plate and someone will be along that can help decipher the codes.

Is there a plate on the caravan somewhere? this should give you empty & max laden weights. Otherwise caravan is pretty standard for year. Chassis parts are available from any parts supplier & any caravan service place can service it. No manufacturer specific info is required.

Worth pointing out if you only paid a few £100s for 'van, insurance is not a legal requirement. You are insured for third party risks while towing on your comprehensive car insurance.
