How accurate are Swift manuals in relation to the awning rail size. The reason I ask is I need to get my awning reduced and I cannot get to the caravan to measure the actual awning rail during the week, but need to get it in for reducing before friday so we can have it back in time to go away in April.
Manual states 926cm but have a size 12 Dorema (925-950cm) do I just get it reduced to 925 and make it a size 11.------------- Dave + Maria

Not sure, my Swift was in the middle of two awning sizes, when I rang the awning manufacturer they suggested I really should measure the A measurement manually, the reason they gave was that over time, the suspension can settle and therefore alter this measurement. They were right I was able to buy the smaller awning with a bit of leeway to spare. If you are paying to get the awning altered I really would advise measuring it yourself and not rely on the handbook, with a potentially expensive error

They usually are, but if this measurement lies between two awning sizes, it is better to measure it yourself, to get a more accurate figure, especially as I said , in older vans the suspension can settle which can lead to a smaller A size.

Hi not sure why you need it reduced in size?
you have the correct awning for the size of the van you've got.
Remember not all pitches are 100% level so you don't need the awning to be 100% to size it states in the manual.

because due to the sagging and not being able to get the awning taught it collapsed in on its self last October due to winds, Dorema had advised getting a size 11 for my van as its only 1cm into size 12.------------- Dave + Maria

Manual states 926cm but have a size 12 Dorema (925-950cm) do I just get it reduced to 925 and make it a size 11. our awning on the van is size 12 dorema / rail size 928 cm.ours fits perfect by the way.
1 centimeter = 10mm = 0.3937 inch.the difference found by alteration would not be of any use and a waste of money.

Well have gone for reducing to 926cm, the main problem was the excess 24cm of fabric to get tight when pitching. So should have it back end of march not bad for £99.------------- Dave + Maria

Well Phoned the place up this morning as got left a voicemail msg, the woman who was going to reduce the awning has measured it twice and got a measurment of 928cm, so acording to her it does not need reducing as this is the correct size for the 925-950cm. I am just confused now....------------- Dave + Maria
