I wouldn't want to let bleach anywhere near my van either.

As I said Wizzo - Washing up liquid contains a lot of salt and bleach as well as other compounds like degreasers etc.
These compounds will strip off the protective layers that protect paint and leave it exposed to the everyday elements. This will turn the van from high gloss to dull in no time. A neighbour a few years ago bought a brand new Car it was a dark colour red I think and he became the joke in the close. He loved his new acquisition and washed it at any time he had. Over aperiod of time high gloss turned to to dull and I noticed that his washing water was turning red. He then contacted the manufacturer and took it to his local agent and some expert told him that he was using washing up liquid and would not be sorted on his warranty. This was backed up with a letter to confirm it outlining the points I mentioned. This is a forum in which I have given my advice which is based on fact whether people choose to ignore it then it is up to them. Wizzo I take exception to you suggesting it is crap. If you have a scientific argument against it and not supposition I will listen to you. If you haven't then stop posting rude one liners please.

Does that not faded the decals ? Fraid i wouldnt go anywhere near my van with bleach..

It worked on a 20 year old van I did with a friend last year. Nothing would shift it until we got some bleach on it. It made an incredible difference and didn't harm anything. Put some polish on it and it looked amazing.

Used to do the same with a boat we had years ago,.

Agreed, washing up liquid is a total no no on anything other than greasy dishes. Otherwise a very quick way of ruining your paintwork.

See: http://www.carcareadvice.co.uk/faq/exterior-paintwork/can-i-use-washing-up-liquid-to-clean-my-car.htm

And whoever said that the above advice was Cr4p should really adopt some forum manners, this is meant to be a friendly forum where people get advice and share experiences.
