We have a 2008 Sprite Alpine. I took off the radio blanking plate (we have no radio fitted) and saw what seemed to be radio wiring. Does anyone know if these are pre wired?
There seems to be speaker wiring too, although no speakers are fitted.
we have a sprite quattro 2009, and ours had the wiring loom installed already...the dealer "forgot" to install the radio, so just gave it to me to install.
I couldnt find where the speaker cables went though so ended up putting them in myself.
I think maybe all Sprites of this age and newer might have wiring looms for a radio as standard as I have heard that most people take the enhanced package. Think I will try plugging in the head unit from our old MG and seeing if that will power up.
Mind you not sure if I am brave enough to cut holes in the overhead cabinet for the speakers!
Just a thought. There is talk of turning FM off and changing everything to DAB in the next few years. Might be an idea to investigate that before you install anything.
yes i recall cutting the holes in my brand new caravan was a bit scary.....but glad i did it, as it all goes were i wanted it.
you can get DAB headunits now, as if/when this happens i will just swap out the unit...
i did at one point ponder the idea of one of those DVD units with a screen that pop's out....but its not in a great position for this.
The other thing to consider is that the wiring was set-up in ours to totally power off when you turn of the battery. So it dones keep the memory.
I also got a decent stick "windscreen" arial with a built in booster, so that i didnt have to drill a hole in the side of the caravan, all i had to do was wire it to the same power line (with an extra fuse of course).
