hi all i am looking at getting a motor mover as the entrance to my drive only gives me a foot of clearance and i could be there hours trying to reverse it in and i think when loaded it would be too heavy for me to push up curb lip and very small incline. Powrtouch seems very popular but at £950 a little too expensive. Anyone recommend any other for me. just seen this one at riversway any thoughts

Oooh they are coming down in price, aren't they? I need one myself, have read loads on here about them all and ended up confused. One thing I did know was that I couldn't afford the more expensive ones... but that is a very good price! Watching and waiting to see what others think about this one!
thanks for doing the link for me. I really like the powrtouch evo manual but £995 is high for me but they will do 6 months finance but not sure if it's 0% yet
I have the same problem getting up the kerb and onto the drive, James. I cannot reverse it in, there isn't enough space for manoevering out on the narrow road. I have a Mr. Shifta for that very reason, and its pretty good, I use it to pull the van up onto the drive, then swing it around to sit where it should until next time. But I would really like a motor mover instead!
If you decide to go for it let me know how you get on. No way could I fit one myself, so if you can, I'll be after you to come and fit mine for me! LOL just up the M6 a bit!
Madasaman - is this riversway one the Ego then? Was it hard to fit?
Jax365 I am definitley not in the category of self fitting! So i will be trying to cut a deal with the caravan dealer this afternoon but the only stock powrtouch or truma but we'll see. will update later or tomorrow.

I have had a Powrtouch for a number of years now, not the least expensive it is true, but I would not be without it. It has been robust and powerful and never given me a problem. Last year I changed vans and Powrtouch came and moved it across converting it from twin axle to single axle model and continued the warranty on it, on the new van. It has been worth the money

Bought mine from Homestead caravans and outdoor leisure. Did the job outside the house, lifted A frame as high as I could to enable working under the van. All instructions are supplied and easy to follow. Much easier if there are two of you, but i did it on my own. Took about 5 hours altogether including the wiring in, severe stiff neck in the morning though. But all in all pretty easy, but if you can get it fitted by a mobile guy for around the 120 thats another way to go.

I bought a Powrtouch a few years ago which they price matched against an Enduro. I got it for half the list price of the Powrtouch.
I have read that if they price match another make now that they down grade the warranty from 5 years to whatever the warranty is on the item they price matched, although a lot of the others now have 5 year warranties. They apparently give you the option to pay extra to upgrade the warranty.
Personally, I wouldn't bother upgrading the warranty as Powrtouch have been known to do free repairs even after the warranty has expired. I notice that the Powrtouch has a weight limit of 1500kg compared to 1800kg on most of the others. Personally if they wanted to "downgrade" the warranty then I would argue that they have not matched like for like because of the weight limit shortfall and ask them to upgrade the warranty to redress the balance. I don't know if anyone has tried this or whether they have had any satisfaction from it.
Well went to see the van we want to buy and agreed the price and then negotiated for the powrtouch heavy duty and agree £625 fitted plus the bar so you can put both sides on at the same time. Now just have to hope my van comes upto scratch in the part exchange. Plus a new 110amp leisure battery to run it worth £120, think it's a good deal.
We have a powertouch superduper jobbie on our van, I've only used it twice
I can fully understand the benefits of them for some people, but by the time I switch it on I can have it reversed to where I want it!

We only use ours to get the caravan on the drive as there is just not enough room to get the car and caravan round the corner. The caravan also has to go on forwards or the A frame would hang out onto the pavement.
I agree that it is quicker to reverse the caravan into most positions than to engage the mover. I find you have much better control with the mover though and it's the only way I can get the caravan onto leveling ramps. If I try towing up them I either drop over the top or find the caravan has rolled back off them by the time I have unhitched the car.
