Our caravan search continues....

The latest offering I am keen on is this 2004 Lunar Quasar 615. I have not been to see it yet but felt £8000 was far too much for a 2004 van.

After some negotiation the seller is offering it to me for £7000. This is right at the top of my budget.

It's such a lot of money I like to throw it out there for opinion for some peace of mind. Does £7000 seem reasonable? Is there anything in particular I should look out for when viewing the van?

I plan to tow it with a 2003 Ford Galaxy - Diesel 115 BHP.

It's weights are:

MIRO = 1205 Kg
MTPLM = 1450 Kg
Overall Length = 7.64
Internal Length = 6.13 meters

Anyone got any experience of towing a van of this length / weight with a Ford Galaxy?

Thanks, I look at this website quite a lot but think it tends to undervalue newer vans and over value older ones.

According to this website the market value of a 2003 Lunar Zenith 6 is only £4600 yet our insurance company have just paid out £5900 for our written off 2003 Lunar Zenith 2003. They used an independent company who specialise in assessing caravan values and providing a market value.

I paid £8k for a 2005 model 2 years ago

I'm sure you can do better if you have a look around, good vans though and very light for their size

It all depends if you like it, and will think we will keep it for awhile, I think the price is a bit high though.

We have a 2004 model which we bought from a dealer for £ 8,300 3 years ago and it has been a good buy :) The dealer said he would give us around 6k on a trade-in now but we're keeping it for at least another year. I would think a Galaxy would be well suited to the van.
