Hi everyone, i hope someone can help me.

We have a Bailey Senator series 6 Wyoming caravan with built in DVD/Radio/C.D. player.

The problem we have is we can only get the radio to work. When we push a DVD or C.D. into the player all we get is a message saying' Bad Disc' on the T.V. monitor.

I have called Bailey and they suggested using a DVD cleaner which we have done but still the same.

Any ideas greatly recieved.

Regards

Paul

Quite possibly the head has come out of alignment while being bumped about on tow. Are you using commercial CDs and DVDs as DVDRs and CDRs tend to be more susceptible.

My son has a 19" TV with built in DVD player which gives similar problems much of the time, but works when it feels like.

The slot type drives seem to give a lot more problems with alignment than the larger tray disc holder drives.

If it won't play a CD then the chances are the heads are a long way out of alignment as CDs are much more tolerant due to the density of the data on the disc.

Dave

Thanks for that quick response , much appreciated.

Yes the DVD's and C.D's are commercial type. If you are riight about the alignment is there anything i can do or do i need the services of a Bailey dealer?

I assume tapping it with a hammer won't work as sometimes with cars?

The second option sounds like it may be expensive.

Cheers

Paul

DaveCoaches is probably right and regretably, this will need specialist realignment on a bench, you're van dealer won't be able to deal with this. Other possibility is the pick-up has completely lost focus and will need replacement.

Either find a good audio repair centre and whip the unit out to leave with them (should be easy enough to remove, maybe 'Google' the model for details) or other option is to replace it.

is it one of those car head unit type of things, if so, a good in car audio specialist might be worth a go, if you fill in your location in your profile, someone might be able to recommend someone.

Tim, Michael,
Thanks for your advise, we are in the west midlands so if you know a good audio engineer that would be helpful. Failing that it may be a new unit when funds allow.

Great site for infornation though, I appreciate your time and responses.

Cheers
Paul

You may want to consider just replacing the head unit....

Halfords often have their "Ripspeed" DVD/CD/MP3/ETC head unit with 3.5" screen on offer for between £45 (refurb with warranty) to £65 on offer.

Your existing head unit may be a better quality unit (or same quality but cost more!) but at a nominal £50-£60 spend it will probably work out cheaper than a repair and you obvioulsy do get a 12 month warranty on the new unit...

David
