When we put the heating on in our van, the radiators seem to make a noise, would this mean there is air in the system? its a 2011 eldiss super sirocco. and the noise is so annoying. it didnt do that when we first got the van.

I cant speak specifically about your van model but more generally about the Alde system.
If there is any real amount of air in the system then the heating water simply does not circulate and the radiators are cold; I have never heard air entrained types of noise from them.
The system tends to self purge the last remaining bits of air from the water the more it is used; so in that respect air issues improve rather than increase.
The circulating pump can be a noise generator and that noise can be transmitted both into the van's furniture and to a lesser extent into the pipework.
Here first check the 'antifreeze' solution's level as a low level can cause more pump created noise.
To check if pump noise is 'shorting' into the structure where it is readily transmitted into the air you need to easy the mounting of the pump and/or local pipework from the structure. ie, if the pump is firmly fixed to the van's structure noise readily is transmitted and you need to explore breaking that noise path. In cases where the pump used is the header mounted one, then try taking out the header mounting screws and easing the tank off the structure; temporarily it should be okay supported by the pipework but be careful. If that cures the troublesome noise then try inserting a bit of that foam sheet like TV screens and laptops are packed in between the tank and the structure and re secure without the screws being too tightly done up. If its an in-line pump system then apply the same logic to easing the tightness of the adjacent pipe fixing clip. I had exactly this problem where the pipe fixing clip was restraining the pipe too firmly. I undid the pipe clip, shuffled the pipework to find its 'natural position' and reinstalled the clip about an eighth of an inch from where it was put originally, it worked for me. In no case slacken any pipe coupling that retains the water, its only the fixings of the bits to the van's structure we need address. I also had one pipe in the system that 'lent' on the hole in the furniture it passed through, again I eased the fixings so it passed clear of the hole side.
A final cause of noise is the structure expanding and contracting as it heats up and cools but this is most likely to be creaking or ticking sounds and very difficult to do anything about
Sounds like the same probs we had, first check water level it should be about 1cm above Min level when cold then bleed the system by opening one of the bleed screws on one of the rads until only water comes out and no sound of air i used the one in the washroom as it was the easiest to get to.Turn the heating on and when up to temperature if the noise hasn't gone try bleeding the rad again to see if there is still some air,i had to repeat this several times.
As you know we have the exact same van and year as yours and we have not had the noise you are experiencing. Our rads all run silent, If you go into the rear washroom and listen you can just about hear the quiet whirr of the circulating pump on top of the fluid reservoir when it is running.
Can only suggest you try bleeding the system to see if there is trapped air and make sure the reservoir level is correct.
Hi dave 11, all the rads get hot apart from the bathroom rad, just warm, so i guess it may need bleeding, i can hear the noise of the pump running in the airing cupboard & the antifreeze level is spot on, maybe the noise is the system expanding/contracting i dont know, but its proper annoying when your curled up in bed lol. thanks for all the info, i`ll try it next week when were at the van.
