Hi, we have been frantically searching to purchase a caravan for 4 whole weeks now and all there seems to have been available is overpriced, damp ridden rubbish within our budget.
The two weeks before we were in a serious position to purchase they were ten a penny.
Ok out budget is a mere £1300 for a 4 or 5 berth but I know that good caravan are out there for such a miserable amount of money because I had seen them.
It is getting frustrating constantly scanning eBay and preloved every two hours.
Why have the good ones dissapered and am I looking in the right places?
My sister had been looking for a very lightweight van , as she was limited in weight and funds, she had £1,300 to spend, we looked at loads and loads for her, we knew that a 20 year old van wasnt to going to be perfect, but it was really hard, especially as weight was a very important factor, but don't loose hope, she finally found a Abi marauder for £800 it is really great, no signs of damp just some delamination on the floor ( which my OH is going to repair for them) it came with awning , aqua roll , crockery cuttllery, everything to get them started.
They are out there, but I know it's disheartening , but you have to kiss a lot of frogs. But you'll find one :)

Hi and thanks for the encouraging replys, I check the free ads on here several times a day but as of yet it has also drew blanks.
The really annoying thing is the fact that we sold our fantastic little old Avondale early March with the intentions of upgrading slightly, the way things are looking now is we may end up with a worse caravan but for more expense.
Thanks for the suggestions I have added the websites to my arsenal. Measham auctions looked great until I noticed you can only attend providing you are in the trade or have an invite.
Just searched caravanfinder website and there are 7 vans there in the £1,000 to £1,500 range, all looking decent on firts glance, all around 10 years old.
I suspect your two week window saw the start of the season when the winter backlog got sold off. We found the same thing with awnings.

What does that mean exactly? Do you need to show accounts? I doubt it.

I've just Googled "caravan dealers staffordshire" and having had a look at a few of their websites there are a few vans on some of them that are around your budget. If you're getting desperate it might be worth trawling through some of the local dealers you might find something suitable.
Thanks to all who have replied, guess what....i think we have found one, we have first refusal tomorrow evening, it seems like a real bargain, it did have damp 2 years ago in the door but i am assured it was fixed properly.
I will have to buy aqua roll, waste hog and hook up but 1st impressions seem good, what do you good people think?
