I have just arrived home after a very wet Weekend away at Barn Farm at Birchover in Matlock. I 'was' due to go away on Friday but an inner CV joint fell apart on my car just as I was taking Willow off the driveway :(
At 4.30 on Friday (after swapping over wheels, because I thought the new ones were causing the bad shaking steering) I was ringing motor factors and breakers to find a drive shaft, but after drawing a blank I found one on Ebay from DUDLEY!
145 Miles, and 3 hours later, I was back at home for 9pm and set to work on fitting it. At 1am I gave up, as the track rod end refused to undo, and I didn't want to start knocking it around so late at night. I got up at 8.30am, and after a lot of head scratching, I realised that the track rod had an Allen key socket in the middle of the thread so I was able to get that off and resume the disassembly. By midday I had got the old drive shaft off (and the new one) on so I was ready to leave (albeit a day later than planned)
By the time we got there on Saturday it had already started raining and blowing, so we holed up in the van 'virtually' till the sun came out on Monday morning. We did nip out to Bakewell on the Saturday, but the weather was so terrible that we didn't stay out long. We also did manage to have a walk about on Monday morning but couldn't see/do much as we had to leave.
The end ;)

I know the feeling we just got back from haven, burnham on sea, tent were blown away, awning flipped over caravans etc luckily we were ok. All good fun though.

It was different Ill concede that to you lol
This Weekend made me think of a 'Bottom' quote, and although It will be lost on virtually everyone, for those that 'get it' here it is ;)
Oh, here we go -- holidays in the Al-gar-ve. Look at this. No electricity, no running water and fifteen hundred quid a month. People pay for this. South of France -- we bloody invented it mate! George the Third, he was the one. All that swimming business. And the windbreak, who invented that? We did. The Brits. Never mind covering yourself in Mazola and lying around with a bit of string up your crack. A quick dip in the briny, dig up a lugworm and back in the car before you get pneumonia. Yep, that's good enough for me!
