Hi all.

I've a little problem I'm hoping someone may be able to help with.

Our oven in our Coachman takes forever to cook anything. 40 minutes to cook a fresh thin pizza! and 10 for garlic bread!!

We know it has always took a little longer than our home oven, naturally. I've cooked almost everything in our oven which makes life so much easier. This season hasn't got off to a good start with our Coachman in general.

The flames don't seem to regulate at all, one setting is all. No matter how much I twizzle the nob. I've given it a good clean, hovered it etc.... but now don't know what to do.

Any ideas??????

Thanks guys, I know someone will have some helpful ideas.

sounds like the thermostat is faulty. twisting the knob on the cooker will not make it go higher than the thermostat is set at.needs your dealer to sort it.we have a full cooker in ours and its no problem so the boss says.

Now I know the year of caravan I don't think it will be a Cramer which was a separate oven and hob so do you know what the make of the cooker is at all and is it a one piece cooker or is the cooker hob and oven separate?

I know which one it is, it has an oval badge on the grill door with the name inside it and I think it may be called a Belling.

The chances are its a custom fit or replacement cooker, we had a 96/97 Coachman Genius from new, and the cooker oven was an extra fitted by the dealer, so yours could be any make going at the time.

I thought that Belling only made electric cookers?

The two main causes of slow cooking in the oven are the thermostat is faulty, or your gas is running low, if the rings and grill are working ok then its more than lightly to be your thermostat.

I agree that is most likely to be the thermostat as well but depending on the make of cooker is dependent on how available the spares are. That's why if we know the make and model number we may be able to search for a replacement thermostat for you.

Thanks romanygirl.
Hubby checked the gas and the rings do work fine.
I think it may be thermostat then.
The oven is an original apparently, fitted with van or when van was first purchased.
Thanks, :)

In response to 'romany girl', Belling actually do manufacture gas operated caravan ovens. There's one in the link below.

http://www.caravan-components.co.uk/epages/BT2955.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT2955/Products/CK095

I'm sure that your cooker is either a Belling or a Spinflo but I think the Spinflo was introduced in the later Coachman models. I have seen a picture on Ebay of a 1997 Coachman and looked at the cooker and confirm that it is an oval badge on the grill front and my bet is that it is a Belling cooker.
