An electric heater has been blamed for a caravan blaze at an Aberdaron caravan site over the weekend.

Firefighters were called out to a caravan at Gwythrian Farm http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=12392 on Saturday just after 8pm. The electric fire is understood to have fallen against a mattress which was set alight and completely destroyed the caravan. The caravan park was evacuated for safety reasons but no-one was injured.

 at least only replaceable property was damaged, with no-one injured or worse

I always use a oil filled radiator as I have always worried about this happening. Glad they are ok.

I know you have to have Gas drop holes in the floor for safety. But in my van they blow a gale which means my dearest ends up putting the fire on. I am usually sitting there in shorts and T shirt.

I just dont know if the fire was left unattended but,if it was what a stupid thing to do...lucky they werent in it.

double check your smoke alarms and CO detectors before your holiday.we use two smoke alarms both can be switched off at the touch of button if required.ie making breakfast.glad they are ok.

Infra red heaters have a switch button so they cut out if knocked over.. . but they emit an extremely cheerful glow which doesn`t aid sleep . . . .

I usually use the built in van heating. I occasionally use a fan heater but leave it well clear of any obstructions.
