Hubby went to get caravan from the Army base we keep it on to find out it had been stolen!!! Gutted is not the word I would use!!. We are foster carers too as told the two yr old that we would be going away in the caravan but sadly this couldnt happen!! Why do people do this. Lucky for us we are insured so will get another caravan but its the personal possessions we had in the van that hurts the most. It was fully kitted out like home from home. Its been very upsetting but it will not keep us from Caravanning..........we will be back :))
I am so sorry to hear this. What a disappointment for you all not to be going away. I think I would feel so angry and I agree, I just don't understand how anyone could do this. As you say its the personal things that matter not the actual van. Have the Police any clues and is it possible that it might be found? Good Luck and good for you not giving up. xx
Hi steveanna19, That is terrible and on an army base too. You would think that in this time of high alert that an Army base would be very secure, have you asked on the base if they have moved van to another location away from a perimeter fence (may have been deemed a security risk, restricted view of the perimeter), you will need to check your insurance with regards to location van kept (private land), hope you get it sorted soon.

They are "secure" but that only means that the people who took it would have legitimate access. That includes military and the many contractors who come and go. It wouldn't have been taken by someone "sneaking in and out". There's a lot of it about.

Hi, Looked at the link, very shocked that military instillations are a bit lax in their security, makes you wonder how secure are we all, if they can’t keep their own bases and equipment secure.
Presumably the caravan would have been on base for some time, and the owners would be known to base personnel, the bases I have been on during my working career, I have had to sign in and out and be supervised around the base, so there would be a record kept of all comings and goings, if this is the case on the base when the van was stolen from, there may be a chance of vans recovery or at least how the van was taken.
Hope they have satisfactory solution soon.
