I have the through the wheel lock supplied with my Elddissimilar to the Alko type.
Does anyone know which is the best lubricant to use on the two small retracting balls to stop them sticking. I have WD40, normal 3 in 1 oil or the spray white grease that I use for the motor mover springs?
Thanks

Spray white grease is what I find best for everything from door locks to corner steadies.

I wouldn't recommend the WD40 as it dries out, but either of the other two will do the job just fine. The 3 in 1 is not as unsightly as the white grease.

Graphite used to be the recommended lube for locks but these days more and more locksmiths are recommending teflon based specialist lock lube which does not gunge up as much as graphite. I used to use graphite extensively a few years back in a marine environment and while it worked it did cause the cylinders to stick after a while and it then necessitated a strip down of the lock which is no fun when they are part of a key system. ------------- 'A sure cure for sea-sickness is to sit under a tree'
