How close can a caravan be sited to another? We have just seasonal pitched and the towball of the caravan behind us is about 1m to our rear end. I thought there had to be a minimum of 3metres for fire regs.Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks.

This has come up in the past and I believe no definitive answer was found. It appears that it might depend on local Planning regulations.

believe its about 18 feet.will try to find it.

From the Caravan Club leaflet "Fire Alert"

"To prevent the spread of fire should an unfortunate incident occur, it is important that sited touring caravans are adequately spaced. On reputable sites, you should be placed with at least 6 metres between caravan walls and at least 3 metres clear between associated equipment (eg. car, awning) and the adjacent caravan. However, on CLs and rally fields it is often up to you to ensure you are properly spaced."

Fire Alert

I haven't read the whole thing, but I saw no indication that this has the force of law. FWIW, the 6 metre spacing was also mentioned to me recently by a warden on a C&CC site.

We have marshalled many rallies in the past and the documentation that we adhere to is 11 metres with an awning and 8 metres without. I don't think that there is a legal requirement but this is the recommended spacing for fire safety. I also have been told that if you have an awning erected you are supposed to have a Red 'Fire' bucket full of water at hand but I'm not sure if this is a legal requirement either.

found this CClub

What is the ruling on distance around the pitch?

Numbered pitch markers are provided on Sites and are placed to mark the rear centre of the pitch. Caravan outfits may be positioned on the pitch in any way, provided there is a minimum clear space of 3 metres (10 feet) between adjoining outfits in any direction, in order to restrict the spread of fire. Most pitches are 12 metres wide, but you may come across some pitches on the Club network which are 11 metres.
