Next week I am planning to take my caravan out of storage and over to my Dad's so that I can give it a proper clean (not done it since we bought it in April). So am planning to completely clean the inside, including taking up the carpet ready for vinyl to be put down on the 15 June, all cupboards, doors, furniture etc will be properly cleaned but my main question is how do I get all the external runners clean (by runners I mean the awning rails), they look like they are filthy and am thinking maybe a bottle brush is the best thing? I know I can't use a jet washer on it as it may get in the seals of the caravan so am going to use a bucket and sponge.
Anyone got any suggestions for what wax to use on it, it's a beige colour van and the shine has gone from the front due to it being in direct sunshine in it's previous home.
best thing to use on the outside is fenwicks shampoo and finish off with fenwicks bobby dazzler and some black streak remover for the hard to remover marks, i also use it around the awning rails
------------- life is to short so make the most of your weekends, just hitch up and gooooooooooo
just done our van tonight she`s looking ready to go and i have to wait till sat morning i did the rails with a small brush and sprayed some beeswax polish in to allow the awning to slide round better
I always use Fenwick's caravan cleaner as it does actually shift the stubborn algea with ease plus the product is designed so not to damage the seals. What I generally use to clean the algea from all round the awning rails is an ordinary paint brush and just work it in gently with undiluted caravan cleaner from a small tub or glass jar then just hose it off afterwards, it works well but try and avoid stiff brushes if possible as they can scrape and penetrate the seals. I clean my caravan about 2 - 3 times a year with this Fenwick's cleaner but once it has been cleaned thoroughly the first time the task becomes easier thereafter removing the algea from around the nooks and crannies.
This is the same as Bobby Dazzler and a much better price, also know our local Tesco has it on special offer at the minute. Don't think you just need to buy Fenwicks products for cleaning your van, any good quality car shampoo will do just as good a job.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Same as above, usually use Fenwicks, but I use a small soft old toothbrush to get to the awkward bits and the likes of the awning rail. Its amazing how much you can clean with one small brush!
Bottle brush nail brush whatever anything similar will get into all the little crevices along the rails. You need to use something like fenwicks caravan cleaner or a good quality car shampoo and wax at the same time. But if you can manage to clean it and then get some quality car polish ( autoglym does a good job ) on it then it should gleam. Bobby dazzler is fine as far as it goes, but after several years of use you realise that had you been polishing it properly from the start then the van would look better. My 9 year old van would have been better if I had polished it from the start instead of relying on Bobby dazzler.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Tip from Belgian guy here in Agde. Buy cheapest shaving foam from liddles and rub into black streaks with fingers, wash then polish.1 it worked on mine!
