hi i have asked this on another sub forum with no replies,so here goes again, my new (to me) awning has those awning clips, that you put the pole in and twist,my question is will my awning be marked on the inside as to where these go, (caravan not here to see)i am thinking the 2 outers, as obviously if they are not postioned right then the frame aint going to fit,, i am on site next sat, and want to get it right first time, i am use to the eyes/ hooks on the side of the van, type, cheers rolls
We just position one bracket centrally and the other two about about 9" down from the corners of the van. You can easily adjust the postion once you get the awning up and will soon learn what is the ideal position for your van.
Do you have 3 or 5 of the "quick-lok" brackets? As said above, I fit loose on awning bead at first and position when awning fully up. One central, two either side so side poles are straight and awning fits properly with gentle slope and, if you have five, the two others in between the middle and the end ones.
The awning roof poles that fit on the side of the caravan won't necessarily fit in the same place every time. If the ground is level then yes they should but if you are pitched on an incline (slope) from front to back then although the van will be level the base of the awning will follow the ground so as the awning needs to reach the ground either end the position of the awning poles on the caravan side walls will be different. If you are unsure then draw a picture on paper of the caravan on level ground with the awning fitted then do it again with the caravan level being on a slope and you will see what I mean.
sounds like trouble to me, will get the awning out before i go, would have thought some sort of markings would have been better though, to act as a rough guide, when and if i manage to erect it, i am defo going to mark the awning for future reference, not sure about the brackets yet,
hi tony so basicly if i have five brackets, i suppose the other two are realy surplus. as there are no poles to join to, do they just keep the awning in place to the rail,

Some awnings have 5 roof poles and some have 3 but this all depends on the size of the awning. On the smaller awnings only 3 are needed but on longer caravans there has to be 5 roof poles otherwise when it rains the the water will slowly sag the roof which is what they call pooling and if this happens the whole awning will cave in and likely to bend the poles as well. You usually find that awnings up to about 900 cms. will have just 3 roof poles but anything bigger usually have 5 so if you have 5 roof poles you definately need to use them.
