if you are caravaning or camping in Cornwall at the moment dont plan to go out until at least Saturday, the wind at the moment is blowing tents away and collapsing awnings.
familys are coming back from a day out to find devistation.
unless you are very confident i would advise that you stay in.
We live in Kent, and on the news they've said if you are going to tow a caravan don't, keep off the road, never heard that before on the weather, looks like its going to get very windy.

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.
The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
good luck everyone in cornwall/devon area and if you are towing. We were down there till last weekend and one weekend got caught in strong winds where it changed direction, that seemed bad enough at times but guess nothing to what people are going through now.
We are leaving tomorrow afternoon to travel down to Cornwall but staying in Cheltenham overnight - hopefully the worst of the weather will have passed we are just going to take it slow, don't care if it takes hours as long as we are safe.
i was driving back from work today at 5.pm. dartmouth to plymouth. and there were people towing. in this wind.! i think there mad...but it seem like it can be done if your brave.....

I was on the motorway a few weeks ago and the wind was very strong. I was following two caravans which were swaying like mad.One of them was actually blown into the next lane.I wouldn't call towing a caravan in those conditions brave, more reckless I would say.
We're in a tent in Lincolnshire and it's horrendous! We're in a Bear Lake 6 and it has a front extension on it. It's holding up well but I never thought I'd see it sway like this. Luckily we're along a hedge so that's lessening the blow. Next to us, the poor Icarus with a front extension is at a right angle to the hedge and is really taking a hammering. We can't see the 2 tents further up the field. The caravan within view looks fine - but they don't have an awning. The 2 caravans with porch size awnings are out of view. It's actually too windy at the moment to take down our front extension - we'd loose control of it!
Same here in Eastbourne..thought it was going to rip our caravan in half last night...our porch awning is holding its own at the moment....poor family across the way about to take down there outwell tent....glad im not in a tent...been in a monty 6 before in this sort of weather and its not fun....we came home..sold it and bought a van......and the poor guys at the download concert this weekend...good luck guys there
Terrific winds here in N Cornwall yesterday, dying down a bit today.
Everyone rallied round yesterday to help people who still had awnings up to take them down. We did lose one tent and a drive away awning, which is sad but tbh they were ones which either had open fronted front tunnel extensions left on or had not been fully guyed/pegged out in the first place. So, a shame but maybe the owners could have done differently. Luckily we do have some very sheltered areas on our site so tenters who wished to stay were able to move to those pitches.

The open front extensions are a real liability if they're still in place when a wind gets going. They trap the wind and really increase the stresses on the main tent. They are fab in calm conditions but a hazard in the wind and unfortunately often result in the main tent being written off as well. Hope your tent has survived though!

It was very windy on the A30 & the M5 northbound for us last night on our way up from a wet & windy Cornwall. It certainly didn't stop some people though they were overtaking us as though we were stood still. There were even a few towing trailer tents & trailers out in lane three & going like the clappers.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
