I seem to have the only dog that wont chase a squirrel..... Our westie is often walked across army land where there is an abundance of grey squirrels. If one runs across his path he pretends not to have seen it and looks the other way :) We walk him there so he can be off the lead and have a good run around.
These are animals, people. They do not have the human traits of fair play and compassion .... something moves, you chase, you kill - dogs and cats are preditors.
I have a GSD and she is amazingly friendly to people - but, if something moves and she is loose, she will want to chase.
nicely put the biggest problem with dogs is the fact as humans we are control freaks but as she keeps letting us know we will never beat mother nature

I used to have a retired greyhound. When we got her (Lucy) we were told to muzzle her when out as due to her training she may chase cats etc. After a few months with us our cat had kittens and Lucy used to pick them up in her mouth and 1 by 1 very gently take them into her basket and let them suckle on her. Definitely a case for nature over nuture!

Oh I agree, my sisters cat had kittens and Libby was so gentle with them, but they arnt really the same as a wild furry running ahead of them.Thats not family that's a chase lol

Adopt a rescue, rescue dogs make great pets, don't support puppy farms.

hi we have 2 springers and the 3 year old charlie is a right little bugger for birds rats and rabbits 2 days ago is was getting dusk and he was wanting to go out so let him out in the garden which is very long he dived out and caught a blackbird and ripped it in half at first i thought it was 2 birds he caught he then brings it to me and drops at my feet i wasnt impressed but dogs will be dogs
