Having recently lost our seasonal awning to the weather and still having issues getting it sorted with the insurance (a story within its self. Me and my wife spent a very scary couple of nights (Thursday/Friday) holding onto the new awning. Its amazing how you look at things when you are being rag dolled by a awning/gale force storm
The crux of this post is if there is any awning manufacturers/suppliers out there who would be willing to listen to customers with some ideas as to how make a seasonal pitch awning a bit more seasonal, To all experts (in the nicest possible way) please note all the correct pegs, storm straps were used

We've camped and caravanned a lot in Holland and Germany and they seem to have awnings that are out all year round, albeit sometimes under a tin cover if there is snow around. Have you ever looked at their caravan dealers, to see what awnings they have on offer?

Dolly Dabbler- I have seen these these roofs on my travels I was told they were to stop the snow becoming a weight problem to the roof.
Alpiner- Used the poles from the written off awning much the same as you have done.

I think one of main questions is that why do tents have the material attached to the frame sleeves velcro etc (our old Outwell 12 was a classic example stood up to force 9 storm on the welsh coast) which makes the whole awning stronger, it is done with porch awnings why not to seasonal awnings.
In essence after my recent expensive experiences there is no such thing as a Seasonal Pitch, and until manufacturers listen to customers things wont change

Not wanting to watch football this evening, I've been surfing the internet looking at caravan dealers in Holland and Germany and what they have on offer for ALL Seasons Awnings. Most of the dealers I looked at would deliver to the UK. It might be worth a look at a dealers next time you are there on holiday.

Why not contact UK awning manufacturers and explain the adaptations you think would be of benefit.

We now have a lightweight porch awning, but previously had an NR awning (bought pre-loved with the van) which although like new was older. NR customer service were very helpful when we needed to purchase an annexe.
If NR didn't want to take up your suggestions on all of their awnings, they might adapt one to suit your needs, to your specification.
