evening all, back on forums after a long time away... just got a compass omega 430,lovely wee van,no damp or damage.was pricing 2 nights with electric hookup for next weekend and the prices were i think a bit dear... used to be in c&cc,its up to £40 now for the year, but prices seem a bit steep with them too. can anyone reccomend a campsite in argyll & bute thats not too expensive? also can you still rough it with a caravan in nice spots around loch lomond? any help welcome.x

Hi kittymieow, welcome and congratulations on your van, all site prices have risen, the CL sites are cheaper, wild camping around Loch Lomond’s East side is not allowed to, many campers leaving their rubbish, and fires not being extinguished properly, it was decided to have designated sites that are patrolled, not sure about the rest of Loch Lomond, I think LobeyDosser did a lot of wild camping, he should be able to help with this, have not seen him around on this part of the site lately, think he is around on the camping side on this site, you could also try the tourist information for Loch Lomond and The Trossachs they should be able to help?

Site fees have risen and it's now regarded as high season on many sites.

Cashel on the east side of Loch lomond or Ardgartan by Arrochar offer discounts to members of the C&CC so you can recoup some of the joining fee.
