Just booked a weekend at Hafan y Mor, Pwllheli, as our first outing in our 1995 Swift.
It's a serviced pitch. So, erm, what does that mean - is it a case of having a tap next to our caravan that we can use to fill up the aquaroll conveniently? What about waste? We've got one of those casette toilettes with the waste tank accessible through a hatch on the side of the caravan.
Do we need any additional equipment to enable us to 'hook' up to the wet services etc?
This will be second nature to most of you, but remember, we've come from the world of trailer tents, so it's all new to us...
Hi Impster. Depends on the site and what you want to do. I have used serviced pitches but still use my normal kit. i.e. use my personal pitch tap to fill my aquarol (just means its close by), empty my waste water down the waste shoot (if this is also right by caravan) and empty toilet waste into normal toilet waste disposal point.
You can buy accessories for your water so you can perm connect the food grade hose pipe to your aquarol so it automatically keeps it filled (looks like a toilet cistern valve) and some connect a long waste pipe and put this directly into the waste outlet.
Think you will always have to manually empty your toilet waste as these normally have to be drained at a specific poiint due to chemicals etc but others on here may know different.
Have a great time and I am sure you'll be fine and it will be a new learning curve for you.
BTW, at one site I was at the pitch pole also had a TV outlet so as long as you have extension arial lead you can connect for perfect TV signal in bad pick up areas. I only noticed this as we were packing up to leave after a weekend of no signal using the caravan arial lol
It fits in the side of the aquaroll and gives you constant running water (love it!), as long as you have enough hose to reach your water point. If you have enough drain pipe, you don't need your wastemaster or whatever either - so the only manual labour is emptying the loo cassette. I wish someone would invent an adaptor for those too!
Some of them also have a TV point which might give better reception than the built in aerial in your van. You will need a long aerial lead to use it (some site wardens seem to make a bit of money on the side by selling these).
You don't need any extra equipment if you don't want. even without the aquaroll adapter it is still better filling up from your service point than dragging 40 litres of water across the site.
Hafon y mor is a Haven Site I believe. They`re very helpful there. Relax! The guys here (or the caravan shop) will tell you what you need if you don`t already know. Haven sites are great. 16 Amp hook ups - you`ll not use much gas.

I'd get the aqua roll adapter as I think its a fantastic idea but my van has an onboard water tank so wont work :-(
You sure? We have an onboard water tank too, but there is a switch over valve by the tank that lets us use an aquaroll. It still uses the on board pump, but sucks water through a filter on the end of the pipe that sits in the aquaroll.
Def. worth it. If only to prevent the - "my hair is full of shampoo and the waters stopped!" and of course its chucking it down with rain outside - moments
Well my caravan has an onboard tank and we use service pitches all the time and we brought a 40 ltr aqu roll adapter and no problems and we have a Bailey Caravan...
Hmmm . . . The simple solution coming up. You connect your longish drain pipe to the drain provided, no problem there. But with the smaller Aquaroll (without the ballcock device) you run a permanent connection from the freshwater tap into the aquaroll via the hole at the top.which also plays host to the external pump. And when the pump starts making that funny noise (indicating the tanks empty,) you don`t need to fill it up.
You get HER to do so. She`ll know when it`s full cos water will come sloshing over the top . . .What fun!
