using a wax will seal the finished coat of paint..only wax after the painted surface is clean and polished.i used to be a car valeter and used <span style='font: 13px/normal verdana, geneva, lucida, "lucida grande", arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); text-transform: none; text-indent: 0px; letter-spacing: normal; word-spacing: 0px; float: none; display: inline !important; white-space: normal; orphans: 2; widows: 2; background-color: rgb(245, 245, 255); -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px;'>Collinite 476s wax which is extremely durable and protects paintwork for up to a years when applied properly</span>

I can second Collinite 476, excellent wax keeps my Volvo shiny for months before needed reapplication!
Van gets cleaned with any brand car shampoo, silky for any stubborn marks then a coat of white colour magic followed by a coat of Auto Glym super resin polish and to finish off auto glym extra gloss protection and the tyres dressed with turtlewax wet n black. Looks like new when done.

Hi alpiner,I had the same trouble with my rubbers, after speaking to Fenwick's I gave them a good scrub with a soft nail brush the black carbon came out like mad, (awesome)when no more black comes off just rub your finger over it to make sure it's clean then seal it,
I agree Landy,Fenwicks may be good but times have moved on and like i said far superior cleaners can be got for less, its just that their not advertised or people are stuck with what they know.
Carnauba wax is one of the best waxs there is and can be found in Showroom Shine,Meguiar's Deep Crystal wax,Simoniz.all do it now.I could write a book with all the companies that have jumped on the band wagon who put it in there products. There is no breaking sweat with putting it on or taking it off...anybody who has used one of the above will tell you.
I dont know of any liquid polish where you mix it with water that contains it.
Armorall can be used for a number of applications, we used it to restore the look in vinyls and plastics and it makes them look like new.Been with us since the 70s and is still there.
At the end of the day,if your happy with your using so be it but,i like to hear of other products good and bad and if there cheaper all the better..
ive just read this thread through from the beginning and im surprised to see that noone has mentioned using ausing automotive detailing clay to remove the worst of the marks/staining.
i have used this stuff on all my cars in the past few years and the difference afterwards is amazing, i cant imagine a caravan being any different, just a bit bigger.
if anyone does decide to use it for the first time just remember it needs loads of lubricating fluid to keep it working properly and to protect the paint from scratching.
also +1 for the detailing world forum and autoglym's extra gloss protection (BTW the trade version of this is called Liquid Hard Wax and works out cheaper).

can not be used on a caravan because the paint used is only microns thick unlike a cars paintwork.
